Store fixtures sometimes seem like a "oh it doesn't matter" type of thing. They really draw focus if they aren't matching or go with the vibe. It's important to realize that pictures like lighting, and other types of fixtures can really bring a store together and make it feel whole. 

I would recommend that fixtures be one of the first things to be done/picked out, as other smaller features can easily be added to compliment those bigger more prominent ones.

If you look at places like a Forever21, their fixtures really are different to those in Macy's and thats really done on purpose. The two completely different stores need two completely different fixtures to suit their needs and vision. It's important when picking out these fixtures it's both functional and fits the theme.
